Welcome to the official website of Strete in Devon, England, which is managed by Strete Parish Council. Strete is about a fifteen minute drive from Dartmouth. It is to be found on the high coastal ground at the eastern end of Slapton Sands. It's a good place to stay if you like exploring the local beaches and is also convenient for Kingsbridge, Totnes and Salcombe. Strete is situated on the South West Coastal Footpath and, with a variety of accommodation in the village, it is an ideal location to take a break in your journey. Take time to relax and enjoy the beautiful AONB surroundings.
The very big royal Platinum Jubilee event has drawn a line, an ending of sorts - and with it a new beginning. It's part of the magic - or strangeness - of an institution that gets to regenerate. This was also, alongside the partying and pageantry, a fond farewell to the Queen who, after seven decades, is withdrawing from public life.
There's no real way of judging the success of last weekend. Over the weekend millions took the opportunity to have a good time after a couple of years of really bad times helped by that strange thing from a long time ago, monarchy.
And, ever-dutiful, our Queen performed another service to her people. It is good to know, at long last, what's in that handbag.
