Welcome to the official website of Strete in Devon, England, which is managed by Strete Parish Council. Strete is about a fifteen minute drive from Dartmouth. It is to be found on the high coastal ground at the eastern end of Slapton Sands. It's a good place to stay if you like exploring the local beaches and is also convenient for Kingsbridge, Totnes and Salcombe. Strete is situated on the South West Coastal Footpath and, with a variety of accommodation in the village, it is an ideal location to take a break in your journey. Take time to relax and enjoy the beautiful AONB surroundings.
Five years ago, the Kings Arms was registered as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) with South Hams District Council (SHDC). The intention was to ensure that the village continued to have a pub that would provide the social heart of the village.
Whilst recent news suggesting a lease may be offered to new management is very welcome, the Parish Council are mindful that the village still needs to have the protection that an ACV order provides, going forward.
The time has come for the ACV order to be renewed and we need to demonstrate to SHDC that the pub really is the main social hub of the village.
This is where we need the help of the community to demonstrate to SHDC that if the Kings Arms came onto the market the village community would work together to keep it as a pub.
