Welcome to the official website of Strete in Devon, England, which is managed by Strete Parish Council. Strete is about a fifteen minute drive from Dartmouth. It is to be found on the high coastal ground at the eastern end of Slapton Sands. It's a good place to stay if you like exploring the local beaches and is also convenient for Kingsbridge, Totnes and Salcombe. Strete is situated on the South West Coastal Footpath and, with a variety of accommodation in the village, it is an ideal location to take a break in your journey. Take time to relax and enjoy the beautiful AONB surroundings.
Details are now being finalised for school and college transport for September. This embraces contracted transport for both mainstream pupils and those with special educational needs, and public transport.
This flyer has been produced with advice for families sending their children to school, including advice on social distancing and behaviour on vehicles.
Making use of special Government funding, we have arranged for additional dedicated school buses to duplicate some public bus services where social distancing would otherwise make it impossible to accommodate everyone. Whilst social distancing continues to be in force on public buses, Government guidance does not require distancing on vehicles dedicated purely to school and college passengers. Additional coaches have also been arranged on rail routes. Details of all additional services appear on the Travel Devon website: https://www.traveldevon.info/bus/latest-news-service-updates/
For short journeys, the Government are encouraging everyone to walk or cycle.
A press release has already been issued: www.devonnewscentre.info/school-transport-guidelines-drawn-up-ahead-of-september-return/
The relevant section of the DCC Covid-19 web pages has also been updated with information about school travel: coronavirus-advice-in-devon/document/schools-and-families/.
