The Parish Council are very sorry to learn of the death of Bryan Seymour who was a long-standing member of our community.
Our thoughts are with Colleen and his family.
When Bryan moved to Strete from the West Midlands in the 1980s, following his retirement as a civil engineer with British Rail, his mission from the outset was to help the village and its community.
He was actively involved with the Parish Council, Parish Hall, Village Day and bowls.
During his time as a councillor, he fought hard for the creation of the coast path to the west of the village and if anything needed repairing, he was the first person to call to sort things out.
Bryan was extremely patriotic, and nothing gave him greater pleasure than to fly the Union Jack from his flagpole to mark all the important dates in our calendar, particularly the Queen’s birthday. Pageantry and the military were prominent in Bryan’s life and this was reflected in his character.
He was loyal, hardworking and would always put others before himself. Bryan will be missed but his legacy will go on.
Colleen and his family can be very proud of his considerable achievements.
Bryan's funeral is on Thursday 1st April at St Michael's Church in the village.
