Welcome to the official website of Strete in Devon, England, which is managed by Strete Parish Council. Strete is about a fifteen minute drive from Dartmouth. It is to be found on the high coastal ground at the eastern end of Slapton Sands. It's a good place to stay if you like exploring the local beaches and is also convenient for Kingsbridge, Totnes and Salcombe. Strete is situated on the South West Coastal Footpath and, with a variety of accommodation in the village, it is an ideal location to take a break in your journey. Take time to relax and enjoy the beautiful AONB surroundings.

Strete Community Speedwatch Scheme Meeting - New Date 12/03/2025
REVISED DATE CONFIRMED WITH THE VILLAGE HALL.

THIS MEETING HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO A DOUBLE BOOKING AT THE VILLAGE HALL FOR THE BOWLING CLUB.
A REVISED DATE WILL BE ADVISED ASAP. PLEASE KEEP A LOOK OUT.
A public meeting has been arranged on 4th March in the Village Hall at 7pm when Paul Potgieter will spend about an hour to explain the workings of the scheme and the reasons for introducing it in the village. The scheme is being managed by Paul Potgieter on behalf of Strete Parish Council. Everyone is invited to attend and familiarise themselves with the project and to meet those involved who have offered to assist with the scheme. Safety on our narrow roads, where footpaths are non-existent, and awareness of road safety in our beautiful village, is paramount. Paul has completed the Police training requirements of the role as have the volunteers who have joined Paul. We have many youngsters living in Strete as well as a large retired population, all of whom need to be safe from vehicles travelling through the village. The initial idea is to focus on known hotspots and times where we know vehicles are potentially travelling too fast. This will change throughout the seasons and will need to take into account visitors who are often unaware of our roads and their challenges. Paul will assist in training and preparing all volunteers.
